Bio

After 12 years as a blueliner for the National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins, Milbury brought his knowledge of the game behind the microphone and has become one of the most recognized voices in the NHL. Milbury was a two-year letterman (1972-74) at Colgate University before being signed by the Bruins in 1974. He spent the majority of his first two professional seasons with the American Hockey League’s Rochester Adams and represented Team USA in the inaugural 1976 Canada Cup. Milbury then became a mainstay on the Bruins’ blueline for the next dozen years (1976-87), helping the club to the postseason in 11 of his 12 campaigns. After hanging up the skates in 1987, Milbury coached the Maine Mariners of the AHL and went on to coach the Bruins for two seasons (1989-91). He led the Bruins to the Presidents Trophy and an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals in his first season. Since 1995-96, Milbury has served as the general manager of the NHL’s New York Islanders, and also coached the team for parts of four seasons (1995-99). Milbury was hired by NBC, VERSUS and TSN as an analyst in the 2007-08 season and has continued providing his insight on-air for some of the biggest games in the NHL, including multiple Winter Classics and Stanley Cup Finals.
