Steve Levy to Serve as Master of Ceremonies for U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Oct. 21

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Steve Levy, longtime ESPN SportsCenter anchor and hockey broadcaster, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the 38th annual U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner on Oct. 21 in Buffalo, N.Y. The announcement came today from USA Hockey.

Levy, born in New York City and raised on Long Island, will help officially induct the Class of 2010, which includes Art Berglund, Derian Hatcher, Kevin Hatcher, Dr. V. George Nagobads andJeremy Roenick.

"We're thrilled to have Steve lead us through one of the most anticipated events in hockey each year," said Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey.

Levy has been an anchor on ESPN's SportsCenter since 1993, and provided play-by-play for the network's coverage of the NHL from 1995-2005 and its broadcasts of the NCAA Division I Men's Frozen Four semifinals and finals in 1998 and 1999. His hockey broadcasting background also includes having produced and and hosted a nationally syndicated show on NHL Radio Network (1988-89) and calling college hockey games for his alma mater, State University of New York at Oswego.

The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner will take place on the floor of HSBC Arena, home of the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. The event will begin at 7 p.m. (EST), with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.  Fans may also charge by phone at 1-888-223-6000.

NOTES: The 2010 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner marks the first time the event will be staged in Buffalo, and the first time the event will take place at the arena of an NHL team (Buffalo Sabres) … Since USA Hockey assumed responsibility for the event in 2007, the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner has been held in Grand Forks, N.D. (2007), Denver (2008) and Boston (2009) ... Dr. V. George Nagobads was part of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team that was enshrined into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003 ... Only once previously have brothers been inducted to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in the same year. It happened in 2002 when Scott and Mark Fusco were enshrined ... The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in 1973. To date, there are 143 enshrined members in the Hall.
